Next Match: away to Catania, January 27 Marcelo Larrondo is keen to be the solution to some of Fiorentina's current problems after joining on loan from Siena for the rest of the season. The Argentinian striker found his chances limited with La Viola's neighbours, especially considering he served a three-month ban for alleged involvement in match-fixing. "In Florence I want to become the player I couldn't be in Siena," he said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for me, a giant leap in my career. I want to improve, to make an impression and to show what I can do. This is a dream and I'm happy it's come true. I was fine in Siena but I didn't get many chances, now it's all up to me." He mused about his enforced time out of the game, with his suspension developing from the same situation that saw Juventus boss Antonio Conte banned for four months. He added: "They were very hard months, also because I didn't do anything wrong. Fortunately my friends stayed close to me and this experience has matured me. Why did I submit a plea bargain? So I could come back and play, otherwise I would have had to wait until February." Fiorentina are on the slide having lost two from three games, and Vincenzo Montella's men could end the weekend in seventh place should AC Milan outperform them at Atalanta. Giuseppe Rossi, Ahmed Hegazi and Mattia Cassani are unavailable through injury, with Stevan Jovetic, Nenad Tomovic, Giulio Migliaccio and Borja Valero struggling for fitness. Montella takes La Viola to face the club he managed last season, Catania, who claimed a 1-0 victory in this fixture courtesy of Francesco Lodi's penalty in March 2012. |
