Next Match: away to Sevilla, November 08 Europe: UEFA Europa League (Group G) Villarreal suffered a dreadful start to the season, but is now out of the bottom three after winning the last two matches. A rather fortuitous 2-1 win at Xerez was followed by the 5-0 demolition of another promoted side, Tenerife, last weekend and those six points have eased the pressure that was mounting on coach Ernesto Valverde. They have also propelled the club to the relative heights of 13th spot in the table ahead of Sunday's tough trip to third-placed Sevilla. Before that match, Villarreal was set to face Lazio in an important Europa League clash at El Madrigal on Thursday night. Spain midfielder Santi Cazorla is sidelined and will not feature in either match. |
