Next Match: at home to Barcelona, November 21 Europe: UEFA Europa League (Group L) Athletic Bilbao began the season in style, winning the first three matches to sit joint tip of the table alongside Barcelona and Real Madrid. The Basques then dropped into the bottom half of the table after picking up just one point from the next five games, but have won their last two since then to move back up to eighth place. Joaquin Caparros' side now sits just a point behind sixth-placed Mallorca, but faces a difficult match at home to league leader Barcelona on Saturday. Veteran forward Joseba Etxeberria will be keen to score in that match, having netted against every other Primera Division outfit but never against the Catalans. Gorka Iraizoz, Fernando Llorente, Gaizka Toquero and Iker Muniain should all shake off their respective injuries in time for Saturday's match, but Aitor Ocio is set to miss out again. |
