Almeria made a decent start to the season, but has lost the last two matches and is now down in 15th place after nine rounds of the championship, sitting just two points above the relegation zone. Hugo Sanchez's side now hosts another team expected to be in a relegation battle this season, Osasuna, on Sunday. Juan Vargas is set to miss the rest of the season through injury, but Henok Goitom is on the road to recovery. However, the Swedish striker is unlikely to return in time to solve Almeria's problems up front in the match against Osasuna. Fernando Soriano is back from suspension, though, and looks set to feature in midfield.
