Hannover has turned down the chance to call off its game at Schalke this weekend due to the tragic death of club captain and goalkeeper Robert Enke. Enke, who was also a Germany international, took his life last weekend after losing a battle against depression, an illness he had kept secret from all but his closest friends and relatives. Enke was laid to rest beside his daughter, who died at the age of two in 2006. An emotional ceremony inside Hanover's Niedersachsen Stadion saw almost 50,000 mourners pay their last respects to the 32-year-old, but his team mates decided against delaying their return to action and will play as scheduled at Schalke Saturday, although it is likely to take a little longer for things to return to normal.
