Next Match: at home to Cologne, November 08 Europe: UEFA Europa League (Group D) Hertha Berlin coach Friedhelm Funkel did not seem to bother that his side was facing Heerenveen in the Europa League Thursday. Berlin needed to win that game to stand any chance of progressing in the competition, but Funkel appears to have his mind on other things. "The following Bundesliga game against Cologne has priority," he said. That does not mean he will field a reserve team against the Dutch side since a win in any competition is good for morale. "We are not going to gift them the game," he continued. "We want to win and get ourselves an important success." Berlin's 2-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund last Friday left the club rooted to the foot of the table, five points adrift of safety and with just one win all season, and that came on the opening day of the season back in August. |
