Hundreds cheer at rally for Saskatchewan Roughriders in advance of Grey Cup game

REGINA - There was a sea of green at Regina's city hall as hundreds of Saskatchewan Roughriders fans gave the team a loud sendoff to face the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League's championship Grey Cup on Sunday.

The Saskatchewan players are expected to leave Tuesday for Calgary to prepare for the big game.

They beat the Calgary Stampeders last Sunday to win the CFL West Division final.

Chris Szarka, a Regina city council member who also plays for the Riders, says they couldn't have done it without the fans.

He says it was "amazing" to see thousands of fans waving and cheering in the stands in Regina during Sunday's game.

Premier Brad Wall has declared it "Green Week" in the province and is encouraging all residents to wear green in support of the team.
