Argos coach Bart Andrus and linebacker Zeke Moreno fined for ripping officials

TORONTO - The Canadian Football League fined Toronto Argonauts coach Bart Andrus $1,000 and linebacker Zeke Moreno an undisclosed sum for "publicly disparaging" league officiating.

Andrus and Moreno both questioned the quality of game officials in the wake of Friday's 26-17 loss to Hamilton, during which an offside call nullified a 47-yard interception return for a touchdown by Moreno.

Andrus said: "I'm just saying the stuff is not consistent, game to game, crew to crew. What's a penalty one week isn't a penalty the next week. There are times when I don't know what to tell our guys."

Moreno added: "I don't really like to complain about officiating, but there were so many calls in this game that kind of make me wonder how much effort and time these officials put into scouting and watching film."

    I think that there needs to be some cleaning up of the Officiating System......I have never seen such terrible OFFICIATING as I am seeing this year .....so come on MR COHEN ....start earning your pay and clean up the mess of INEPT OFFICIALS that keep on messing or games.......:-(((

    I'm a big Argos fan and it's hard to be one living in Calgary but I have to agree the officiating has been inconsistant. The CFL needs to fix it for next season, not that it would have helped the Argos this year. Many games no matter who played had inconsistant officiating. Bart Andrus is new to the league/game and this year was a learning curve for him so give him a chance but he should of had his say with Commissioner Mark Cohon and not do it in public. Hopefully the Commissioner and League will correct this in the off season. As for the Argos, they have their own problems, Kerry Joseph needs to go and bring in a really good QB as well getting the "O" line to protect the QB better. I have to say Cody Pickett didn't do that bad for his first year as a starter and I can see him becoming a good QB.

    everytime time that i watch a cfl game there are really bad calls from the refsand like the coach of the argos said be consistent with the calls but it will never happen as it leaves the thought that the games are fixed

    yeah i have to agree there has been some very big blown calls. That have decided games 4 i can think of is the blown montreal and bc with that buzzer bs., the brutal call on the john chick hit on henry burris in overtime, the forward kick in the bc and rider game where a player who was off side (ahead of the ball) and recovered the ball for a touchdown., and just recently the no pass interference call on omar morgan on geroy simon in ot in the endzone... its been quite pathetic actually. 3 of those calls greatly altered the outcome of those games... its to bad makes the cfl bush league

    CFL needs to smarten up. If I say the refs suck, they won't fine me for "publicly disparaging" league officiating. So they aren't happy with the refs, big deal! It's a free country, they should have the right to say what they want. The comments weren't even that bad, for crying out loud. They could've been Larry Johnson and called the refs @#$%s.

    Arland Bruce was not the problem, as he had talent. I wonder if the problem is that Andrus sucks
