Brazilian footballer injures himself doing backflip celebration after first career goal

Internacional built a nice 3-1 lead over America MG in the first leg of their Copa do Brasil third-round tie. Their third goal came from 19-year-old Maurides in the 88th minute — a moment made all the more special for him since it was the first goal of his young career. So to celebrate, Maurides did a cartwheel and then a backflip. He stuck the landing on his floor routine, but in doing so he hurt his knee and had to be stretchered off the pitch.

According to the team doctor, Maurides' knee sprain was "more of a scare" than something that could keep him out for a long period of time. Still, from now on the teenager will probably stick to celebrating his goals by crawling into the fetal position for several seconds.
