Zara Phillips, granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth, knocked over a fence during the showjumping section of the team eventing section, but her Great Britain teammates rallied to win a silver medal in the event, contested Tuesday at Greenwich Park.

The daughter of Princess Anne hit the obstacle with her horse High Kingdom and was docked seven points. She told the BBC afterward that she was "disappointed." Then her final teammate, Tina Cook, ran a near flawless run that clinched the silver.
It is the first Olympic medal for the 31-year-old. She had missed the previous two Olympics when her horse, Toytown, was injured during the lead-up to Athens and Beijing, respectively. Phillips, the 2006 BBC Sports Personality of the Year, had been expected to miss out on her hometown Olympics after Toytown was retired.

Zara's pedigree extends past Buckingham Palace. Princess Anne competed in the same equestrian event during the 1976 Olympics. Her father, Mark Phillips, won gold in Munich in a riding event.
Her cousins, Princes William and Harry, cheered her on from the stands.
