Patrice Bergeron’s double OT goal gives Bruins 3-0 series lead on Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins played much better in Game 3, but they still were unable to solve Tuukka Rask as the Boston Bruins took a commanding 3-0 series lead, thanks to Patrice Bergeron's double overtime goal.

It was one of, if not the, best game of the playoffs, with long stretches of actions, an incredible number of goal posts hit and, of course, two overtimes needed to get a result.

For all their woes in Games 1 and 2, the Penguins were better defensively Wednesday night, including Tomas Vokoun absorbing shots, not allowing for many rebounds, and just an increased effort with the desperation level on high. But even that wasn't enough. The Bruins matched the Penguins' effort and Rask, who made 53 saves, was a brickwall, frustrating Pittsburgh through five periods of hockey.

At 15:19 of the second overtime, it was Jaromir Jagr haunting his old team to start the play that would result in Bergeron's goal. After taking the puck away from Evgeni Malkin in the neutral zone, Jagr dished it off to Brad Marchand, who then found a streaking Bergeron, who redirected the puck behind Vokoun:

Bergeron and Marchand have combined for 22 points in 15 games which, as the Bruins' overtime hero mentioned afterward, shows just how good their chemistry has been.

"I know that he knew I was going to the net and I was just trying to get open and for him to find my stick," Bergeron told NBC Sports Network's Pierre McGuire.

Rask has allowed two goals in 215:19 of action in this series and stopped 108 of 110 shots through three games. He's done exactly what he's needed to do to help the Bruins slow the Penguins high-powered offense.

"He's doing everything right now," said Bergeron. "He's awesome."

Now with the Bruins a win away from the Stanley Cup Final, the Penguins face a huge mountain to climb. And coming off an emotional double overtime loss, where does Pittsburgh even begin to try and figure out a way to beat Rask four games in a row?
