Ottawa fans win free hamburgers with Senators victory (Update)

Update: The Ottawa Senators defeated the Maple Leafs, 5-3 Saturday night. This meant ... free hamburgers for Sens fans from our favorite Irish pub chain fast food joint -- McDonald's.

Kyle Turris notched the game-winner at the 19:08 mark of the second period and Andrew 'Hamburglar' Hammond stopped 22 of 25 Toronto shots on goal in the win.

And since Turris also scored an empty net goal with under a minute left in Ottawa's victory, this meant McDonald's business was booming with extra free burgers, as noted by the below promotion.

As if there was any extra incentive for Senators fans to want Ottawa to defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night. The Senators will give out free McDonald's "regular" hamburgers if Ottawa beats the Leafs.

But wait, there's more burgerage according to the Sens:

If the Senators score in the final minute of the third period and win the game, fans would be able to redeem their ticket for both a hamburger and a Big Mac.

Also, as if there's anything "regular" about a McDonald's hamburger.

It's like goaltender Andrew 'Hamburglar' Hammond hasn't given McDonald's enough free publicity during his magical 12-0-1 run that has put the Senators back into the playoff picture. And the Ottawa fans have done their part by tossing burgers of unknown origin on the ice of the Canadian Tire Centre.

Of course McDonald's has obliged by giving Hammond free burgers for the rest of his life.

Now the Senators are treating their fans to gluttony on top of wins. It's like a double victory for the Senators -- provided they beat the Leafs, which doesn't seem too hard these days.
