NHL Three Stars: Fehr continues January jolt; Bergeron gives Bruins big win

No. 1 Star: Eric Fehr, Washington Capitals

‘Mr. January’ continued his roll with two goals and one assist in Washington’s 6-2 romp over the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Capitals have won four of their last five games. Fehr has eight points in those contests. In three games this month, Fehr has five points.

No. 2 Star: Patrice Bergeron, Boston Bruins

Scored two goals including the game winner in Boston’s 3-2 overtime victory over Pittsburgh. The win broke a three-game losing skid for Boston, one day after CEO Charlie Jacobs called out the team. 

No. 3. Star: Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers

Made 24 saves on 25 Anaheim shots on goal in a 3-1 win over the NHL-leading Ducks. The win for Lundqvist was his 11th in his last 12 decisions. The win for New York was the first of three games in California.

Honorable Mention: Washington’s Marcus Johansson scored two goals … Caps defensman John Carlson notched two assists and was a plus-3 … Washington captain Alex Ovechkin picked up his seventh point in his last four games with an empty net goal … Boston’s Tuukka Rask made 37 saves on 39 Penguins shots on goal … Bruins forward Milan Lucic picked up two assists and had four registered hits … Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin scored a goal and added an assist … Detroit’s Justin Abdelkader and Henrik Zetterberg each scored a goal and added an assist in a win over the Flames … New York’s Rick Nash scored his 25th goal of the season … Derick Brassard also scored for the Rangers in their win over Anaheim.
