Hurricanes mock Blackhawks with Crying Jordan after blowout

The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday night. OK, they embarrassed them: Scoring three goals in the first period to chase Corey Crawford, and then scoring two more in the second period.

It was 5-0 after 32:24 of hockey, and that’s how it ended; without question one of the worst losses of the Blackhawks’ season.

But the Hurricanes wanted to add some insult to injury. So they unleashed one of the most potent (and played out) memes in professional sports: The Crying Jordan.

From Know Your Meme, please know your meme:

Crying Michael Jordan is a photoshop meme featuring a cutout image of former professional basketball player Michael Jordan crying during his 2009 Basketball Hall of Fame induction speech superimposed into other base images of various contexts.

It’s a meme that’s been used in any and all contexts, much to the chagrin of his family. And on Tuesday night, it was used on the Jumbotron by the Hurricanes and then tweeted out after the loss.

That’s cold!

Boy, the Hurricanes showed them, using a Photoshop meme embarrassing one of the greatest players in the history of North Carolina basketball, the owner of a team in Charlotte and a mainstay at Panthers games to mock an opponent that’s won as many Stanley Cups in six years as the Hurricanes have playoff appearances in 14 years. But hey, great regular season win.
