Gino Odjick admitted to hospital psychiatric ward, via report; concussions to blame?
Gino Odjick buried his father last week. It was traumatic and depressing for him, but it also triggered something in him that’s led to the former Vancouver Canucks and Montreal Canadiens brawler being admitted to the psychiatric ward at Pierre-Janet hospital in Gatineau, according to the Journal de Montreal.
The paper reports that Odjick was seeking treatment for depression and “problems related to concussions he suffered” as a player in the NHL.

Odjick didn't seem in too bad a state when I went to see him at the hospital yesterday evening.
"I'm here for my concussions," he said.
"Since I retired in 2002, I've spent 32 months at the hospital."
Odjick also appeared confused, as evidenced by this exchange (via Don Falconer):
He expected to be discharged from the hospital shortly during our conversation. Unfortunately, Odjick is not out of the woods. As evidence, the false statement he made me.

Scary, sad stuff.
Odjick is 43 years old. He was seemingly a completely different person just a month ago, when he attended Pavel Bure’s number retirement ceremony and took credit for pushing that effort through.
