Coyotes shock family with soldier son, and it’s amazing (Video)

Eitan and Ronit Urman have been Arizona Coyotes season-ticket holders since the Phoenix days: 1996, to be exact, back when the team wore those hockey-by-way-of-peyote logos on their sweaters.

As part of fan appreciation night on Saturday, they were invited to drop the ceremonial first puck between the Anaheim Ducks and the Coyotes in Glendale. As they walked out, it was announced their son, U.S. Army Sergeant Dan Urman, was serving in Afghanistan.

At this point, anyone that’s been in an arena during the last 10 years sorta knew where this was going. But judging from his reaction, Eitan didn’t.

They turned to drop the puck and then realized they didn’t have one to drop. So he turned back to the benches and saw his son, in uniform, running out to deliver it. So Eitan went into a sprint and met him and they both tumbled to the ice.

It was priceless.

And then come tears and cheers and the dad clutching his heart and my goodness the whole thing came together perfectly.

Every time in every sport does these emotional surprise reunions. Sometimes they lack surprise or emotion. This unforgettable moment did not.
