Former NHL defenseman Nick Boynton pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct for a drunken tirade at a Buffalo-area casino, where he bit a police officer in late March. This is from a report in the Buffalo News.

Per the report, Boynton agreed to perform 100 hours of community service and keep with an alcohol counseling program. He is not allowed to enter the casino for a year. The 36-year-old Boynton was with the Arizona Coyotes as a radio analyst for their March 26 game at the Sabres. He was swiftly placed on a leave of absence by Arizona shortly after the events occurred.

From the story:

“I feel terrible. I want to apologize to my family, to the Arizona Coyotes,” the 36-year-old Boynton said outside the courtroom following his sentencing. “I want to put this in my past and learn from my mistakes and make sure this does not happen again.”

Boynton had yelled and cursed at casino workers and patrons, shoved one patron off a chair and bit a police officer on the hand during an incident at the casino March 26. He was in town with his job as a radio commentator for the NHL Coyotes, but was suspended shortly after his arrest. Boynton said Friday he plans to contact the Coyotes’ management and seek reinstatement.

Boynton played 11 years in the NHL, his final season coming in 2010-11. Boynton is a diabetic and was reportedly taken to the hospital for treatment after the outburst.
