Chris Neil of Senators bleeds profusely after taking puck to face (Video)

This, as they say, is not for the squeamish.

Ottawa Senators forward Chris Neil was cut open after taking an errant Erik Karlsson pass to the face. He crumpled to the ice in pain, got up and quickly left for the back early in the third period.

Here’s a quick look at the incident, via 25 Stanley:

Naturally, Neil returned to the ice in under 10 minutes, with a significant gash above his eye. Because, hockey, that’s why.

Of course, this probably wouldn't have happened if Neil had been wearing a visor. Just like he probably wouldn't have been injured by Max Pacioretty's stick in Jan. 2011 with one, too. But as Neil told the NY Times in March: “I think if everyone’s wearing no visor guys would be more respectful around the league with their sticks.” So no visor for him, thanks.
