It took a little longer than expected, but the Buffalo Sabres finally clinched No. 30 overall in the NHL this season with their loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night.

While that still doesn’t assure them the services of Connor McDavid – thanks to a draft lottery system that, this season, actually reduced the chances that the worst team gets the best pick – it does assure them no lower than the No. 2 pick in June’s draft in Florida, which is expected to be Boston University star Jack Eichel.

To celebrate the potential selection of either franchise player, the Buffalo-lovin’ Northtown Automotive (a.k.a. the OFFICIAL automotive dealer of the Buffalo Sabres and Bills!) dedicated their electronic billboard to the end of the tank last night.

It read “McEichel.”

Northtown is famous for its billboards in support of the Bills. Wonder what they’ll over up after next Saturday’s NHL lottery …
