The final two goals in the Minnesota Wild’s win over the Columbus Blue Jackets tied a record for the fastest two scores in NHL history.

Columbus forward Boone Jenner scored at the 19:44 mark of the third period to put the game at 3-2 in favor of the Wild.

Columbus kept the net empty off the center ice faceoff, and Mikael Granlund fired a shot off the draw into the open Blue Jackets goal to put the game at 4-2.

Technically the scores came 1.7 seconds apart. The last time two goals came that quickly was Dec. 19, 1987 when Ken Linesman of the Boston Bruins and Doug Gilmour of the St. Louis Blues. Linesman's goal game at 19:50 and Gilmour's at 19:52.

Zach Parise scored a hat trick and Devan Dubnyk stopped 29 of 31 shots on goal to help the Wild to the win. Cam Atkinson also scored for the Blue Jackets. Minnesota captain Mikko Koivu left the game in the first period and was taken to the hospital after hitting the boards hard in his back and neck area. Koivu was released from the hospital and traveled home with the team.
