Report: Arian Foster has serious groin injury, might need surgery

We now know the first big storyline of "Hard Knocks," the Houston Texans edition, should be.

Texans running back Arian Foster appears to have injured his groin (first reported by ESPN's Tania Ganguli), which might require surgery according to Jayson Braddock of ESPN 97.5 in Houston.

Head coach Bill O'Brien gave no indication Monday night after Foster was given the day off practice that there was any serious worry.

“We’ve got to monitor Arian, like I told you guys that in the offseason and I think that’s what that’s all about today,” O’Brien said.

Now they might be monitoring the season — or at least the first part of it, anyway — without Foster's service. In a bounceback season in 2014, Foster, who turns 29 at the end of the month, ran for 1,246 yards and eight TDs and caught 38 passes with five receiving TDs in 13 games.

But he has been injury-prone throughout his career and faces a lengthy absence here if the reports are true.
