Bills receiver Stevie Johnson says no Patriots player can stop him, but mentions somebody on a different team

Buffalo Bills receiver Stevie Johnson had at least one of the essential components necessary for effective trash-talk prior to an NFL game.

First, Johnson found a reporter who was willing to print a bold prediction. The Buffalo News reporter Tim Graham was fortunate enough to get Johnson on-the-record calling out New England’s secondary before the season opener.

"I don't think they got nobody that can stop me," Johnson said this afternoon at One Bills Drive. "For real."

Yes, that is a great start.

Second, follow-up the bold prediction by saying something about the opponent assigned to stop you. Johnson said he watched cornerback Aqib Talib on tape, but did not mention Alfonso Dennard or Kyle Arrington.

He did mention his regard for cornerback Pat Chung.

"I got a lot of respect for Chung," Johnson said. "I know him personally."

Johnson and Chung must not be close friends.

Chung signed with the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason.

D'oh!

That leaves the rest of us a little confused. Has Johnson watched any film of this year’s Patriots or does he plan to go off memory on Sunday? Can Johnson really say nobody can stop him when he is unsure who is on the other team? Has Johnson actually witnessed Bills quarterback E.J. Manuel play in the preseason? If Johnson did see Manuel play, he would probably curb heading into the season-opener.

Johnson also believes Buffalo’s offense can take advantage of New England’s defense, and even though it will be a test, “I’ll still ride with my boys over their guys.”

That brings us to the final task Johnson must execute for effective trash-talk.

Back it up.
