Du’Vonta Lampkin, a member of Texas’ 2015 signing class, won’t enroll at the university.

Lampkin, a Rivals three-star defensive tackle from Houston, confirmed the news to the Cypress Creek Mirror and said he plans to join another football program.

Lampkin originally verbally committed to the Longhorns last July, but apparently hasn’t fully met the requirements to gain admittance to the school even after signing with the program in February.

From the Mirror:

Texas has a foreign language requirement Lampkin hasn't met - in this case Spanish - that other schools don't have.

Lampkin said he would've had the chance to fully meet that requirement in summer school and then enroll in August. However, citing previous experience, Lampkin said he didn't want to risk failing to meet the requirement in the summer and subsequently have to enroll at a junior college.

"If I take that summer school class now for Spanish and it doesn't go well, then I end up in a junior college," he said. "That's not the route I really want to take."

Lampkin said he has his sights set on Oklahoma – where he originally verbally committed before making the switch to the Longhorns.

“If anything, I may land at Oklahoma,” Lampkin said. “I’m very comfortable with their coaching staff. So, as soon as everything dials down, I’m going to contract (Bob) Stoops and see if they have any scholarships available for me.”

If he can’t go to Oklahoma, Lampkin said he’s confident he’ll find a landing spot based on his offer list. According to Rivals, the 6-foot-4, 306-pound Lampkin also had offers from Arizona State, Baylor, LSU, Michigan, Mississippi State, Missouri, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, and TCU.
