Jake Rudock could be on his way to Michigan.

According to Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman, Rudock, the former Iowa starting quarterback, “has been told by the Big Ten his waiver to be eligible to play in 2015 has been approved.” That decision clears the way for Rudock to play immediately at Michigan, where he visited last week.

In fact, ESPN is reporting that Michigan will be Rudock’s landing spot.

Rudock, a fifth-year senior who started the past two seasons for the Hawkeyes, decided to transfer earlier this month. Per ESPN’s report, Rudock is hoping to battle for the team’s starting spot under new head coach Jim Harbaugh.

The Big Ten usually requires a player to sit out for a season if he transfers within the league (even for graduate transfers), but the Big Ten gave him clearance to play right away after Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz put no restrictions on his transfer.

Rudock, who started 25 games over the past two seasons at Iowa but transferred after falling behind junior C.J. Beathard, joins a crowded Wolverines quarterback room. Freshman Alex Malzone arrived in June, freshman Zach Gentry will arrive on campus this summer and former Houston quarterback John O’Korn will transfer to UM this summer as well.

The Wolverines also return junior Shane Morris and redshirt freshman Wilton Speight, who have been competing for the top spot on the depth chart during the spring.

Rudock threw for 2,383 yards, 18 touchdowns and 13 interceptions for the Hawkeyes in 2013 and 2,436 yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions last year.
