Kevin Durant proves he can still shoot, torches child at Pop-a-Shot

For someone who loves basketball as much as Kevin Durant does, you'd imagine that being on the shelf for five-plus months — as he's been thanks to the persistent problems with his surgically repaired right foot that have kept him sidelined since mid-February, and officially ended his season in late March — has been at least as excruciating as the injury itself. Now back on his own two feet, working out and preparing to return to the Oklahoma City Thunder for the start of the 2015-16 season, Durant's evidently eager to make up for lost time and looking to get up shots whenever and wherever he can ... including at one of America's premier fine-dining and family-entertainment franchises.

Jacques Slade captured Durant getting his Pop-a-Shot on at a Culver City, Calif., Dave & Buster's during a visit to Los Angeles last weekend to promote the launch of the KD8, the latest version of his signature Nike sneaker. While there, he challenged — and, as the video shows, whipped up on — some lucky local kids who got the chance to get up close and personal with the 2013-14 NBA Most Valuable Player.

It wasn't all blowouts and buckets, though. KD did take some time to make nice with the kids away from the mini-hoop:

See, now that's the way you do it. No need to rub it in, JaVale-style.

Now that KD's reached the stage of his rehab where he's clearly capable of taking out children, we'd like to see him step up the level of competition. Maybe he can give Ricardo Reyes or the woman who authored the perfect Pop-a-Shot game a call next time he's in town. Iron sharpens iron, after all, KD.
