Georges St-Pierre answers questions on Nick Diaz, changing weight classes and a spinning back kick

(Getty Images)LAS VEGAS -- Georges St-Pierre has been in the cage with some of the world's most fearsome fighters over the years, from Matt Hughes to B.J. Penn to a whole host of others.

But the most fearsome strike he's seen was one thrown by someone who sits outside the Octagon.

In a Q & A session for UFC Fight Club fans Friday afternoon at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, St-Pierre said he's never seen anything like UFC color commentator Joe Rogan's spinning back kick.

Speaking about time spent training at Eddie Bravo's gym, St-Pierre said "Joe Rogan was helping me out with the spinning back kick. Joe Rogan has the best spinning back kick I've ever seen in my life. It's incredible. If he was in a fight, if he hits anyone with the spinning back kick, I don't care who he is, he's going down. I don't care who it is, how big he is, it's amazing."

Mike Goldberg, the Q & A's MC, stepped in at that point and told people to check it out on Youtube, so we did, and it's pretty awesome.  Don't believe us? Watch it yourself.

Rogan's back kick was just one of many topics covered by St-Pierre -- who incidentally is now the second-longest reigning champion in UFC history, having surpassed Tito Ortiz's light heavyweight title reign -- in a half-hour question and answer session done in front of what seemed to be a majority of Canadian fans:

On his UFC Primetime comment that Nick Diaz is "fake crazy:" "What I believe is, he's a very smart guy. He knows what he's doing. He would not be able to do what he's done in his career if he wasn't smart. I do believe maybe he has some mental issues ... I do not believe he is a bad human being. Truth my eyes, because he has been very disrespectful to me and because maybe we'll fight, he's disrespectful, but to you guys, I'm sure if you saw him and asked him for an autograph he'd give it to you.

What if Carlos Condit beats Diaz on Saturday? "I wouldn't be surprised at all if Carlos Condit wins. I would not be surprised if Carlos spoils the whole thing. If he wins, you know, that means he's the best man, and I want to fight the best man. That means Nick Diaz would be out of a title shot and I want to go against the winner."

On whether Hughes should keep fighting: "Matt Hughes is an amazing fighter. It's just, at one point, I'm just concerned about his motivation, if he still has the fight. I'm concerned about Matt Hughes. Physically, Matt Hughes still has the skills, he can still kick ass. It's just up to him, does it still excite him, does he still have the motivation. I think he still can be one of the top guys."

And of course, there were the usual array of questions about fighting somewhere other then welterweight:

On the oft-discussed superfight with Anderson Silva: "It depends on the outcome on all the fights. Maybe if I beat the winner of Condit-Diaz, there will be another up-and-comer for me to fight, that everyone wants me to fight. Maybe Anderson won't be the champion anymore, maybe I won't be the champion. It depends on the outcome."

From a clearly inebriated fan who asked him if he'd fight at 205: "I do training with bigger guys, but a fight is different than training. If I would go [straight to 205 from 170], it would be the stupidest thing I've ever done. It's like you're asking me who would win in a fight between Spiderman and Batman."

On going down to 155: "If I go down to 155, Frankie Edgar will kick my butt."

WAIT!!!! so who would win between spiderman and batman?? :(

I was wondering what percentage of people would get that comment. Spider-Man has super human strength. He can stop a runaway train. Batman may be in the top 1% of all humanity in terms of athleticism, but he is still just a man and relies on his tools and weapons against more powerful foes. In an MMA match Batman would certainly lose to Spider-Man.

That video should confirm that Joe Rogan really knows what he's talking about during the fights. I hope he stays around for a long time.

Joe Rogan gives new meaning to a comedian who kills. That is a badass spinning back kick. Now he just needs Segal to refine it a little more.

I knew that Rogan was proficient in BJJ but GD that was a hell of a spinning back kick. GSP seemed really impressed. Maybe he said what he said about the kick b/c he didn't expect Rogan to be able to do that. As much as i try to dislike GSP, i just can't do it. HE truly is a genuine guy who happens to be extremely gifted at what he does. I hope he ends up fighting Diaz so we see a whole new killer instinct in GSP's fighting style. He really wants this fight! Im rooting for an epic fight whoever may be the winner, of course this is all moot if Condit wins. I think that will be the same as the rest of GSP's title defenses, a one sided UD

I was expecting to see some slow telegraphed kick, but #$%$ that is lighting fast, accurate, and very powerful. If it doesn't break a rib it's very likely going to knock the wind out of you.

Rogan was 4 times Massachussets stepkicking champion (TKD) and one a US Open trophy once.Thats barely a decent national record in the Rockettes style. He does know TKD, so Im not surprised although stunned that most here didnt. But world class? well....Of course, in a world where college wrestlers are called world caliber champions and where gay olympics and special Olympics champs like Hammill are hailed as 'world champions', I understand that anything past your local YMCA is considered world class to some.Jean Yves Theriault is close to 60 now and you should still see his workouts 5 days a wk.THAT is world caliber kicking. Enesto Hoost, Don "The Dragon" Wilson, Toscas Petridis, Rick The Jet Rufus, Rob Kaman were kicking legends so please forgive me for not falling for the world caliber #$%$

Joe Rogan is officially a badass!

It was a spinning SIDE kick his foot was parallel to the floor. A somewhat difficult kick to master. Rogan took TKD for several years it shows in this clip.

im not entirely surprised Rogan can throw a mean kick... ever since Fear Factor he's gone on about being a TKD practitioner... whenever a fellow martial artist was on the show he would shmooze them until they got eliminated... and its not like wikipedia doesn't say he's a TKD black belt already

Joe Rogan is one cool due, so where are all you loud mouth punks who are always talking smack about Joe being a no nothing fat guy? lol Would love to see Joe greet you with a spinning back kick you pansies lol

Joe's spinning back kick is great in the GYM. If he actually tried it in the cage even against a mediocre MMA fighter he would get his butt whipped. Rogan is too much of a coward to even try.

Remind me not to talk smack to Joe Rogan, lol. That is some serious power he is generating in his kicks. Kudos to you Joe!

GSP does not seem to have any mental dysfunction impairing his ability to give clear answers to media/fan questions. And English (keep in mind) is his 2nd language. What was Nicky's excuse? Total ineptitude, drug usage, and general stupidity? Yea, that is what I thought. Add in mental retardation and you hit the target. Here's hoping that the guttersnipe gets beat senseless. (Not a prediction, I have no "faith" in Condit. In fact, I don't know why he is being hyped. He has hardly done jack in the UFC. He needs to be taking out guys like Kos, Fitch, Penn, Alves, etc. in order to deserve serious accolades.)

bigot, hypocrite, four-flusher....all proper synonyms for Doghouse Riley.

Yea right. I'm not the one making racial slurs. Your buddy Moe is the bigot. Don't you have trouble making teens to take care of? The last thing this country needs is your kids running around having more kids while they are kids.

Monkeyboy isn't racial. Are you black? How would I even know what color you are? I'm calling you a Monkeyboy because you are a Monkeyboy.

Think a Professor Doctor Company Owner that makes millions a year and spends all day on Cagewriter would be able to figure that out.

Too bad Joe Rogan is so insecure that he uses the C-word to belittle women. I'd kick his butt if he ever said that to me.
