No. 1 star: Anthony Richard, Val-d'Or Foreurs (QMJHL)

The 17-year-old Richard provided the Foreurs with the extra juice to get a 6-5 overtime win over Chicoutimi in the final leg of a road trip. The Foreurs trailed by four goals entering the third period, thanks to Arizona Coyotes prospect Laurent Dauphin netting a short-handed goal for Chicoutimi late in the second.

The Saguenéens are a porous team defensively, though, and Val-d'Or refused to roll over. Richard (3G, +1), who scored a double-overtime goal last May at the Memorial Cup, cued up the comeback by scoring with 13:07 left. After Vytal Côté cut the score to 5-3 with 8:07 to play, Chicoutimi figuratively began to reach for the panic button on the Collapse-o-Matic 3000 command console. Consecutive roughing penalties to Alexandre Ranger turned into consecutive goals by Richard to force overtime. Richard's hat-trick goal with 4:31 left was his team-leading 16th of the year, but fellow 17-year-old Julien Gauthier pulled into a share of the Foreurs' team lead by getting the OT winner.

No. 2 star: Jon Martin, Kootenay Ice (WHL)

Martin tied an Ice record for points in a period, getting four in the final 20 minutes of a 7-3 comeback win over the Moose Jaw Warriors that gave the Ice its third win in a row. The line of Martin (1G-3A, +4), Levi Cable (2G-1A, +3) and Matt Alfaro (1G-2A, +3) was electric in the third period against the Warriors and goalie Brody Willms, who was making his first WHL start. Martin, who was playing his 200th career game, had the primary assist on back-to-back Cable goals that put the Ice ahead for good by the midway point of the third. The 19-year-old Winnipegger struck again off a setup from St. Louis Blues draftee Jaedon Descheneau (2G-1A, +2) to open a 5-3 lead.

No. 3 star: Christopher Clapperton, Rimouski Océanic (QMJHL)

Who wins 8-2 one day after losing by the same score? Apparently, Rimouski does. Clapperton (3G, +3) and Alexis Loiseau (1G-3A, +3) helped Rimouski get rid of the bitter taste of being blown out by Halifax on Saturday by snapping the Charlottetown Islanders' five-game win streak.

Clapperton, a Florida Panthers draft pick, opened the scoring 15:31 into the first with an assist from Toronto Maple Leafs first-rounder Frédérik Gauthier. The 20-year-old struck again in the second just 32 seconds after the Islanders' Daniel Sprong (2G, +2) had got the Islanders on the board. Clapperton finished off the 8-2 win by scoring with 1:28 to play, giving him his second hat trick of the season.

Honourable mention: Anthony DeAngelo, Sarnia Sting (OHL)

The Tampa Bay Lightning pick fuelled a comeback for a 5-3 divisional win over the Saginaw Spirit. DeAngelo (2G-1A, +1) had a power-play assist during the first 40 minutes, only to watch his team fall behind on a goal by Saginaw captain and Columbus Blue Jackets fourth-rounder Nick Moutrey. After Nikita Korostelev tied the score with 7:01 left in the third, DeAngelo buried a pass from Patrick White for the game-winner.
