St. Louis Blues pick Robby Fabbri notched a hat trick and one assist as the Storm defeated the Whalers.

No. 1 Star: Robby Fabbri, Guelph Storm (OHL)

The Plymouth Whalers could not contain the elusive Robby Fabbri. He lit the lamp three times and added an assist as the Storm pulled off a commanding 9-3 victory. Following scoring his first of the night on even strength just 8:39 into the contest, the St. Louis Blues first-round pick netted two more goals on the power play in the second period to complete his hat trick. He went on to set up a Tyler Bertuzzi (1G-1A) goal in the latter half of the third period when the game was out of reach for the Whalers.

Fabbri has been red hot as of the late for the Storm. He has five goals and seven points in his last two games and a pair of hat tricks in last five matches. Not bad for a kid who had 20 teams pass him over in the 2014 NHL entry draft.

Los Angeles Kings defensive prospect Zac Leslie (3A, +1) and overage Chris Marchese (1G-2A) posted three points apiece for Guelph.

No. 2 Star: Brett Pollock, Edmonton Oil Kings (WHL)

It’s not every day a natural hat trick in scored, let alone in a span of 53 seconds. It was quite an accomplishment for Pollock, but he unfortunately couldn’t celebrate a win after the game as the Oil Kings fell 7-4 to the Brandon Wheat Kings. The Dallas Stars prospect’s quick three goals all started at the 19:14 mark in the first period with a one-timer from Dysin Mayo (2A, +1) on the man advantage. He followed it up with a goal from a long shot just 34 seconds later and another one just seven seconds into the second period. It was the fastest hat trick in the history of the Oil Kings franchise.

Rookie Nolan Patrick (2G, +1) and Tim McGauley (1G-2A, +1) shone for the cool, calm and collected Wheaties.

No. 3 Star: Dylan Strome, Erie Otters (OHL)

The Connor McDavid-less Otters had no problem pulling off a 7-1 win over the Sarnia Sting without their captain largely because of a four-point effort from Strome. The 2015 NHL draft prospect gave Erie a 2-0 lead with a power-play marker just over 12 minutes into the opening frame. He went on to notch assists on goals from Patrick Murphy (2G, +2), Kyle Maksimovich (1G-2A, +1) and Alex DeBrincat.

Strome hasn’t skipped a beat since Erie lost McDavid to a highly debated hand injury. The 6-foot-3, 187-pound centre has four goals and eight points in four games without his skilled teammate.

Honourable mention: Cole Cassels, Oshawa Generals (OHL)

The Vancouver Canucks prospect was a major difference-maker for the Generals in a 6-4 win over the Belleville Bulls. Cassels scored back-to-back power-play goals in the middle of the first period to give Oshawa a 3-0 lead. He also posted a pair of helpers later in the game on goals from Tobias Lindberg (1G-1A, -1) and Kenny Huether.

Honourable mentions: Jayden Hart and Rylan Parenteau, Prince Albert Raiders (WHL)

Hart and Parenteau stepped up for the Raiders in a 6-2 win over the Swift Current Broncos. Hart kicked off the game with two goals in the first seven minutes of the contest before completing his hat trick with an empty-net marker in the last minutes of the match. Parenteau, meanwhile, stood on his head in the blue paint with a 44-save performance.

Potent notables: Kurt Etchegary (2G-1A, +3) helped lift the Quebec Remparts over the Sherbrooke Phoenix in the 4-2 affair… Gatineau Olympiques goalie Brandon Whitney turned aside 37 of 38 pucks in a 2-1 against the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada… Nicolas Melche notched a goal and two assists from the back end as the Baie-Comeau Drakkar beat the Val-D’or Foreurs 5-4 in a shootout… Saginaw Spirit puck-stopper Jake Paterson stopped 36 of 37 shots in a 2-1 win over the Niagara IceDogs… Phoenix Coyotes first-rounder Max Domi and Christian Dvorak scored a goal and two assists apiece as the London Knights defeated the Mississauga Steelheads 6-3… Canucks pick Jake Virtanen (1G-2A, +2) helped the Calgary Hitmen knockoff the Moose Jaw Warriors 5-2… Maple Leafs pick Rinat Valiev (1G-3A, +3) and overage Tim Bozon (2G-1A, +1) led the Kootenay Ice to a 5-1 over the Lethbridge Hurricanes… Josh Connolly notched four helpers as the Kamloops Blazers defeated the Prince George Cougars 5-2… San Jose Sharks pick Alex Schoenborn (2G-1A) scored the overtime winner as the Portland Winterhawks beat the Kelowna Rockets 4-3.
