No. 1 Star: Ivan Barbashev, Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL)

Barbashev’s hot stick lifted the Wildcats over the Shawinigan Cataractes in the 6-5 affair. Of his six dangerous shots, the St. Louis Blues second-round pick netted a hat trick and added one assist to boot. His first goal of the night was crucial for the Wildcats as it tied the game up at two just over a minute after the Cataractes took the lead. The Russia native truly found his stride in the final frame by netting two markers and assisting a Vladmir Tkachev (1G-1A, +3) goal all within eight minutes.

The four-point night should be a confidence boost for Barbashev as he only managed to muster one apple in his previous three games. He now has 11 goals and 16 points in 12 contests on the year.

No. 2 Star: Max Domi, London Knights (OHL)

The Phoenix Coyotes first-round pick scored the crucial first goal of the game for the Knights with only 29 seconds left in the first period. It seemed to be a confidence-booster for London as they went on to take their matchup with the Guelph Storm 7-1. Domi went on to rack up three assists on goals from Aaron Berisha (1G-1A, +1), Mitchell Marner (1G-1A) and Matt Rupert (1G-2A, +1) for a four-point effort.

Montreal Canadiens first-round pick Michael McCarron matched Domi's effort on the score sheet with one goal and three asissts of his own. The towering 6-foot-6, 225-pound centre scored his lone goal in the final frame to give London a four-goal lead with roughly 13 minutes left in the contest.

No. 3 Star: Samuel Blais, Victoriaville Tigres (QMJHL)

Blais padded his stats with a four-point effort as the Tigres dominated the Halifax Mooseheads in a 9-0 beat down. The Blues prospect kicked off the game by assisting a pair of Antoine Marcoux (2G, +2) goals in the first period. Following setting up a Gabriel Gagne marker in the middle frame, the 6-foot-1, 181-pound winger netted the Tigres’ eighth goal of the game.

Angelo Miceli (2G-1A, +3) and Yan Pavel Laplante (3A, +4) netted three-point efforts while Brandon Whitney posted a 33-save shutout in between the pipes.

Honourable mention: Mason McDonald, Charlottetown Islanders (QMJHL)

The Calgary Flames second-round pick led the Islanders to a 2-1 win over the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles with a 33-save performance. McDonald’s best period came in the final frame when he turned away all 13 shots to hold the one-goal lead for his club. He also shut down all four of the Eagles’ opportunities on the man advantage.

Potent notables: Maxime St-Cyr (2G, +1) led the Baie-Comeau Drakkar for the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in the 4-3 affair… Rimouski Oceanic forwards Alexis Loiseau and Simon Tremblay netted two goals apiece in a 8-2 shellacking against the Val’Dor Foreurs… Alexandre Carrier and Louick Marcotte potted one goal and two assists each for the Gatineau Olympiques in a 6-4 win over the Sherbrooke Phoenix… Saint John Sea Dogs import Juraj Siska netted a pair of goals in a 3-2 losing effort against the Quebec Remparts… Jimmy Lodge potted two goals as his Saginaw Spirit fell 4-2 against the Mississauga Steelheads… Pittsburgh Penguins second-round pick Tristan Jarry stopped 24 of 25 shots for the Edmonton Oil Kings as they knocked off the Moose Jaw Warriors 3-1... Adam Brooks (2G-1A, +1) and Daniel Wapple (35 saves on 36 shots) were key contributors in the Regina Pats' 8-1 win over the gassed Lethbridge Hurricanes.
