No. 1 star: Tyler Bertuzzi, Guelph Storm (OHL)

Who says you can't exorcise weeks of frustration all at once? Four days after the Storm suffered its worst loss (11-1) in more than 20 seasons at the hands of the London Knights, Bertuzzi forced observers to crack open the club record book. The Detroit Red Wings second-rounder set a Storm single-game mark with seven points  (2G-5A, +3) in a 9-4 win over London, outdoing centre Robby Fabbri (3G-3A, +2) by one. Their linemate, Pius Suter (3G-2A, +3), also had a hat trick.

Eighteen points? That's more like a basketball statline.

"Obviously our line was struggling for five games or so. Tonight we worked together as a line and as a team and the hockey gods were with us," Bertuzzi told the Guelph Mercury's Tony Saxon. "Before me and Fabbri were looking for each other a little too much. Whether it was trying to be too cute with it or backdoor passes. Today we were just shooting the puck and half the goals were rebounds."

Bertuzzi had three power-play points in the first period to help Guelph build a 5-2 lead. The 19-year-old earned primary assists on a Fabbri second-period goal and a Suter salvo with 5:01 left in the third that put the game well out of London's reach.

No. 2 star: Nick Moutrey, Saginaw Spirit (OHL)

Since the Kitchener Rangers apparently cannot lose a game in regulation any more, Moutrey (2G-1A, +3) had to wait until the 43-second mark of OT to score the decider in Saginaw's 5-4 win. The 19-year-old Columbus Blue Jackets fourth-rounder had had a strong start and was integral in getting the Spirit the regulation tie, scoring a third-period go-ahead goal and assisting on a Tye Felhaber tally just 52 seconds later. Jake Paterson (38 saves) did his utmost to preserve the lead, but Kitchener rallied to force overtime to extend its point streak to 12 games.

In the extra session, though, Moutrey, Winnipeg Jets pick Jimmy Lodge (2A, +3) and defenceman Keaton Middleton (2A, +2) collaborated on the winner.

No. 3 star: Raphaël Corriveau, Acadie-Bathurst Titan (QMJHL)

Corriveau (2G, +2) was the man of the 11th hour for Bathurst, scoring last-minute tying and overtime goals in a 4-3 comeback win over the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.

The Eagles were sitting pretty with a two-goal lead with 2 1/2 minutes to play before veteran Andrew Ryan (2G, +1) scored with 1:43 remaining to create a one-shot game. The Titan maintained the pressure and Corriveau, an overage mired in a seven-game drought, tied the game with exactly 60 seconds left. The Eagles were still in a daze when Corriveau converted an Aaron Kerr setup 1:06 into 4-on-4 bonus hockey for the win.

Honourable mention: Anthony Beauvillier, Shawinigan Cataractes (QMJHL)

Beauvillier (1G-2A, +1) and fellow 17-year-old Dennis Yan (1G-2A) led Shawinigan to a 6-1 home win over the Chicoutime Sagueneens. Beauvillier was in on three consecutive goals during the final eight minutes of the second period that turned the game into a cakewalk, drawing two assists before burying a power-play goal with 25 seconds left in the frame.

Potent notables — Kitchener overage D Max Iafrate (1G-1A, +2) extended his point streak to 11 games ... New York Islanders first-rounder Michael Dal Colle (2G-1A, +3) and Ottawa Senators fourth-rounder Tobias Lindberg (1G-2A, +3) each had three points in Oshawa's win over Peterborough ... Daniel Sprong (1G-1A, +2) was first star for the Charlottetown Islanders in their 8-3 win at Drummondville that completed a 2-of-3 West Division swing ... Also in QMJHL play, Nicolas Meloche (2G-1A, +1) led Baie-Comeau to a 4-2 win at Gatineau.
