No. 1 star: Michael Dal Colle, Oshawa Generals (OHL)

St. Catharines, Ont., was treated to a performance by Run-MDC, as Dal Colle (2G-3A, +3) put on a show to spur the Generals to 7-4 road win and 3-1 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinal. The New York Islanders' No. 5 overall pick, playing in the Meridian Centre, where he practised in December with Team Canada prior to being a late cut, factored into four consecutive Oshawa goals over a 10-minute span that bridged the first two periods. That put Oshawa well on its way to be first road team to win a playoff game in the IceDogs' new home, which might not see another game until September.

Dal Colle started out with primary assists on goals by Hunter Smith, Michael Dal Colle (2G-2A, +2) and Cole Cassels. Dal Colle was turned back on a breakaway minutes later, but came right back to finish off another rush and open a 4-0 Generals advantage. An injury to McCarron, who missed a few minutes, and a couple penalties stayed Oshawa's momentum and Niagara came within a goal of tying the game. However, Dal Colle chipped in an empty-net goal to close out the game. The third-year forward has 19 points in nine playoff games, tied for second in the OHL playoff scoring race.

No. 2 star: Guillaume Gauthier, Quebec Remparts (QMJHL)

The former No. 3 overall choice who landed in the Quebec this season fired a hat trick to help the Remparts win 5-2 against Charlottetown and reach the President's Cup semifinal for the first time since 2011. Gauthier (3G, +3), working on a veteran line with unsigned Edmonton Oilers second-rounder Marc-Olivier Roy and Arizona Coyotes prospect Anthony Duclair (1A, +3) scored consecutive second-period goals that vaulted Quebec to a 3-1 lead. Following a late second-period reply from Charlottetown's Danien Spring, the Ste-Marthe-sur-le-Lac, Que., native struck again 2:30 into the third to deflate the Islanders.

No. 3 star: Roy Radke, Barrie Colts (OHL)

Radke (2G, +2) and Mackenzie Blackwood (45 saves) were the main reasons the Colts lasted 83-plus minutes before falling 4-3 in double overtime to North Bay Battalion, who lead the Eastern semifinal 3-1. Barrie trailed by two goals with just more than 11 minutes left in regulation time when the rugged Radke, a 200-pound winger with a certain Chicago toughness, made a power move around a defender and beat North Bay goalie Jake Smith. With 6:10 to go, the 18-year-old whacked in a bouncing puck to give Barrie an improbable tie after 60 minutes.

New Jersey Devils signing Ryan Kujawinski (1G-1A, +1) scored the winner on a one-timer at 3:49 of the second overtime.

Honourable mention: NIc Petan, Portland Winterhawks (WHL)

Petan (1G-2A, +1) and Oliver Bjorkstrand (2G, +1) helped the 'Hawks pull away for a 5-3 win against Everett and a 2-1 lead in the U.S. Division final. Twenty-one seconds after Vancouver Canucks pick Anton Cederholm treated his visiting father, Jarl, to the opening goal, Petan snapped in a shot to open a 2-0 lead. The Winnipeg Jets prosect also drew assists on Bjorkstand's goals that came 107 seeconds apart early in the third and opened a four-goal spread.

Everett, after seeing a shutout streak surpass 97 minutes, scored three late goals to make Portland sweat out the final two minutes.

Potent notables — Bjorkstrand has eight goals in nine WHL playoff games ... Bjorkstrand's fellow Columbus Blue Jackets pick Nick Moutrey had three points(1G-2A, +1) for North Bay. Barrie's Mackenzie Blackwood stopped 45-of-49 shots, giving him 146 saves througth four games against the Battalion.
