Co-No. 1 stars: Ivan Barbashev and Conor Garland, Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL)

It was Ridiculous Day at the Moncton Coliseum, as Barbashev and Garland each had a touchdown — six points apiece — as the Wildcats drubbed the Victoriaville Tigres 8-3. The pair started fast, assisting on the first 'Cats goal before Barbashev (2G-4A, +5, 14-of-24 on faceoffs) scored with an assist from Garland (3G-3A, +4) to force a 2-2 tie after one. In the second, they found their groove by factoring into three goals in a seven-minute span that gave Moncton firm control of the game.

The 18-year-old Garland, the reigning CHL player of the week, completed his hat trick with an empty-netter with 1:53 left in the period. The Massachusetts native has 22 points over his last seven games; Barbashev, the St. Louis Blues second-rounder, has 19 over that stretch.

No. 3 star: Anthony Beauvillier, Shawinigan Cataractes (QMJHL)

Beauvillier (2G-1A, +3) brought the Cataractes all the way back for a 5-4 overtime win at Rouyn-Noranda after they trailed 3-0 early. The 17-year-old got a short-handed penalty-shot goal to get his team off the deck, then got another man-down marker 6:02 into the third that cut the Huskies' lead to 4-3. Beauvillier continued to win faceoffs (21-for-35 on the night) and create chances, setting up a Dennis Yan goal with 29 seconds left that gave the Cataractes one point in the standings. They got the second when 16-year-old Samuel Girard scored, off a Yan setup, 4:04 into the 4-on-4.

No. 3 star: Mathew Santos, North Bay Battalion (OHL)

Not normally a big scorer (18 goals in a 137 games with the Battalion), Santos got his first hat trick in a 7-2 Battalion romp over the Peterborough Petes. The 19-year-old Santos (3G, -1) broke the Petes' spirits with a beautiful backhand move with 45 seconds left in the second period for a 2-0 lead, then struck again twice, completing his hat trick in the final minute. The Etobicoke, Ont., native has five goals in in as many games after being shut out in the first dozen.

Honourable mention: Michael McCarron, London Knights (OHL)

It feels like Le Big Mac must have had a hat trick prior to Friday, but indeed, the Montreal Canadiens prospect's natural hat trick in the Knights' 6-4 win over Owen Sound was his first in the OHL. McCarron (3G, +3) wired in a rebound for his first goal, then drove to the net to convert setups in the second period, as linemates Max Domi (4A, +4) and Aaron Berisha (2A, +1) kept setting him up all night.

Honourable mention: Shea Theodore, Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL)

The Anaheim Ducks prospect was named first star after leading Seattle, which is playing without young star Mathew Barzal, to a 6-4 win over high-flying Brandon. Theodore (1G-1A, +1), who recently rejoined Seattle after an AHl conditioning stint, put the 'Birds ahead for good with a power-play goal with 12:39 left in the in the third period.

Honourable mentions: Dryden Hunt and Daniel Wapple, Regina Pats (WHL)

The Pats humbled the Medicine Hat Tigers 6-2, with Wapple stopping 39-of-41 shots while Hunt (3G, +2) had a hat trick. Wapple defined the Pats' start with a 16-save opening period, then Hunt provided some definitive finish by scoring his goals in a 14-minute span that bridged the second and third.
