St. Louis Blues pick Samuel Blais records 5 points for Tigres: Friday's 3 Stars

No. 1 star: Samuel Blais, Victoriaville Tigres (QMJHL)

Blais had four points in the third period, among his five on the night, to help the Tigres outlast the Sherbrooke Phoenix 7-4.

The 18-year-old St. Louis Blues pick had an assist on an early second-period goal by linemate Angelo Miceli, as the teams were square 2-2 after 40 minutes. In the final frame, it got frantic, is Blais (1G-4A, +2) assisted on power-play goals 90 seconds apart with a Phoenix tally sandwiched in between. The teams were tied again with 6:19 left when Blais created a chance that Miceli (3G-1A, +2) capped off to put Victoriaville ahead to stay.

Blais, a sixth-round pick of the Blues, also scored a dagger goal with 3:32 left in the game.

No. 2 star: Jansen Harkins, Prince George Cougars (WHL)

Harkins (1G-3A) gave a huge boost to the Cougars' Western Conference playoff hopes, scoring 33 seconds into overtime for a 5-4 road win against the Seattle Thunderbirds as Prince George pulled within one point of Vancouver for the final B.C. Division playoff spot (and within three of the last wild-card spot). The 17-year-old centre directed a pass from Zach Pochiro (2G-2A, +2) home to get the Cougars a vital extra point, along with their ninth win in 10 tries at Seattle's ShoWare Centre.

The North Vancouver, B.C., native also had three power-play assists, including the first helper on both of Pochiro's goals. Nineteen-year-old Jordan Ross also scored his first WHL goal to boost Prince George.

No. 3 star: Chris Bigras, Owen Sound Attack (OHL

Bigras (4A) had one of the best offensive games of his four years with Owen Sound, repeatedly creating premium chances for his teammates as they outscored Connor McDavid, Dylan Strome and the Erie Otters 5-4. The Colorado Avalanche prospect assisted on goals 1:58 apart in the opening period that staked Owen Sound to a quick lead, but McDavid and mates surged ahead 3-2 in the second. Later in the period, Bigras burst down the left side and circling the net before spinning away from a check and centring to Erik Bradford (2G, -1), who put Owen Sound ahead 4-3. Bigras also assisted on the winner, as Petrus Palmus slammed home one of his rebounds.

Honourable mention: Nathan Noel, Saint John Sea Dogs (QMJHL)

Noel (4A, +2) also earned four helpers while leading Saint John to a 7-3 win against Charlottetown. The St. John's, N.L,. native had two assists during the Sea Dogs' five-goal second period, including a perfect one-timer free to Spencer Smallman for a goal in the last minute of the frame. Noel picked up two more helpers in the final period.

Connor McDavid now has 100 points in just 38 games ... Arizona Coyotes second-rounder Christian Dvorak (2G in London's 6-2 win over Guelph) hit the 40-goal milestone ...   ... Nikita Korostelev (1G-1A, +1) scored the overtime winner as Sarnia beat Plymouth 3-2 to snap a five-game skid ... Ottawa rookie goalie Leo Lazarev (31 saves) shut out Saginaw 5-0 ... In the QMJHL, Anthony Duclair (2G-1A, +2) was first star in Quebec's 6-5 overtime win against Cape Breton ... Nikolaj Ehlers' 33-game point streak and Timo Meier's 27-game skein ended in Halifax's loss against Baie-Comeau ... Los Angeles Kings pick Valentin Zykov (2G-1A, +3) had his second two-goal game in a row during Gatineau's 7-3 win against Moncton ... Rimouski's Anthony DeLuca and Shawinigan's Anthony Beauvillier each scored their 40th of the season.
