No. 1 star: Sonny Milano, Plymouth Whalers (OHL)

Milano (2G-2A, +1) scored two third-period goals as Plymouth pulled away for a 6-3 win against the Sarnia Sting to move within five points of the final OHL Western Conference playoff berth. The Columbus Blue Jackets first-round pick capitalized on a power play with 11:23 left in the third to open a two-goal margin, then struck unassisted with 5:50 left to ice the game.

The 18-year-old left wing also assisted on a first-period goal by Victor Crus Rydberg. Milano also assisted on a goal 6:02 second that put Plymouth ahead for good.

No. 2 star: Timo Meier, Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL)

Meier (2G) ran his point streak to 27 games during the course of Halifax's 6-3 win at Chicoutimi, which would be the longest skein in his league if teammate Nikolaj Ehlers wasn't on a 33-game roll. The 18-year-old NHL draft prospect took a pass from Ehlers (1G-1A, +1) in the first period and scored on a wraparound to open a 2-0 Mooseheads lead. Meier struck again late in the second, giving him 39 goals on the season and 28 over his last 27 games.

No. 3: Hampus Olsson, North Bay Battalion (OHL)

Olsson (1G-1A, +1) was named first star during North Bay's slump-busting 4-2 road win against the Barrie Colts, whose Central Division lead was chopped to seven points. The Battalion were down two goals in the second period when their leading scorer, Joseph Blandisi, got the extra penalty during a skirmish with Kyle Wood. After Brett McKenzie converted on the North Bay power play, Olsson scored on the next shift to tie the game. The Sweden native also had an assist on the go-ahead goal later in the frame.

Potent notables — Edgars Kulda scored in overtime to give Edmonton a 3-2 win over Lethbridge, as the Oil Kings overcame a 45-save effort by 16-year-old goalie Stuart Skinner ... In the OHL, Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Carter Verhaeghe (1G-1A, +2) led Niagara to a 4-2 win over Niagara ... Alex Fotinos' 27 saves allowed Windsor to rally for a 4-3 overtime win over Ottawa. Travis Konecny (1G-2A, +1) factored into all three 67's goals ... Greg Betzold and Michael Clarke each hit the 20-goal mark during Peterborough's win against Sudbury.
