Florida pitcher throws no-hitter, then a perfect game
A high school senior in Florida threw a no-hitter in late March. That seemed like it could be the highlight of the season – until 6-foot-3 lefty Michael Zimmerman went and topped his own accomplishment in his next outing.
Just threw a perfect game! @FTBMizuno #ftbfamily #GulfCoastHS

Zimmerman, a senior at Gulf Coast High School in Naples, Fl., pitched a perfect game on March 31.
“He looked outstanding,” coach Pete Garcia told the Naples News. “His fastball was working. His breaking ball was outstanding.”
The closest anyone came to getting on base was a drag bunt in the second inning. From there it was smooth sailing as Zimmerman struck out 10 and forced most of the others to ground out. Only one batter managed to even reach a three-ball count. The Sharks won 5-0.
Zimmerman had struck out 12 and allowed one baserunner in the previous game.
A four-year starter at Gulf Coast, he's planning to play at the University of Florida next year.
