Landry Fields proposes to Elaine Alden prior to Raptors victory over the Knicks

Landry Fields will likely always have a soft spot for New York City.

Not only did the Toronto Raptors small forward begin his NBA career in the Big Apple, playing two seasons with the Knicks after being drafted by the franchise in 2010, but it’s also the place where Fields started dating supermodel Elaine Alden.

And with the Raptors visiting New York on Wednesday for a mid-week tilt with the Knicks, Fields couldn’t think of a more fitting time to pop the question and ask Alden to marry him.

“I asked her [to marry me] here in New York,” Fields told reporters prior to Wednesday’s game. “I met her here in New York, I felt it was only right.”

Both Fields and Alden expressed their excitement over the engagement on Twitter.

But it wasn’t just an ordinary proposal. As Alden detailed on Instagram the couple likes to take photo booth pictures in all the cities they travel to, but this time after going for their customary shoot Alden when to grab the picture only to find a “Will You Marry Me” photo strip. When she turned around, Fields was on bended knee.

And Fields big day didn’t end with an engagement. The 24-year-old earned his way back into the Raptors starting lineup for the first time in six games and the Stanford graduate led the team with 10 rebounds and chipped in four points as the Raptors upset the Knicks 92-88 and extended their winning streak to four games.

After the game Alden showed off her new rock on Instagram alongside a plane ticket to Miami, where the couple is headed for a four-day vacation while many other NBA players, including Fields’ teammate Terrence Ross, with be heading to Houston for NBA All-Star Weekend, which kicks off Friday night.
