Two buses carrying about 100 Montreal baseball fanatics made the five-hour trek to Cooperstown, New York last weekend, to see two former favourites join Gary Carter and Andre Dawson as inductees into baseball's Hall of Fame.

Among them was Montreal mayor Denis Coderre, an enthousiastic supporter of the campaign to get major-league baseball back in Montreal (too bad he's not a billionaire).

Actor-musician Annakin Slayd, among the group, tells Eh Game there were probably another 200 Expos' fans who got there on their own.

As you can see from the photo, Martinez was pretty stoked that they made the trip. The longtime Boston Red Sox ace has never made a secret of his eternal affection for both the city, and its fans. You can imagine how what likely were multiple Red Sox PR flacks on hand felt about that development. :-)

The Nation also got some face time with another former Expos' great, Vladimir Guerrero.

The Expos Nation is hoping to make at least one more trip down in the next few years, to celebrate Tim Raines' long-hoped-for induction. They also are hoping, by then, that the game might be headed back to the city it left nearly 11 years ago.
