Tim Hortons Field joins Mosaic Stadium in the list of "CFL venues with mistaken fire reports"
Remember The Great Mosaic Stadium Fire of 2012, and the T-shirts for those who "survived" it? It looks like Hamilton has joined Regina on the list of "cities where a fire has been mistakenly reported at the CFL stadium." This one's perhaps even a funnier mixup than the Saskatchewan situation (which was caused by the Roughriders displaying a burning Yule log on the stadium's video board over the holidays), though, as it appears what Hamilton residents mistook for a fire was normal activity at the city's most famous industry. That's right, the steel mills:

Breaking news, fire that comes from the kiln at steel plants in distance is not a fire in the stands of Tim Hortons Field.

Actually no fire at Tim hortons field. Smoke coming from Dofasco that looked like stands were on fire, #HamOnt fire says. #sl @Ticats

"Fire" at Tim Hortons Field was a false alarm. Was apparently called in by someone who mistook stacks at steel mill for an actual fire.

So, yeah, that's not going to go down as a great moment of brilliance for whoever called it in. At least there wasn't a fire at the stadium, though; it's already seen one fire this year that caused $2,500 in damages (just two days before opening, to boot), and not having anything else go wrong with the ongoing construction there is a plus. Crisis averted, this time around. You'd think that residents of Steeltown might have a better idea of what steel plant operation looks like, though. (And no, it doesn't usually look like this.) It brings to mind Basil Fawlty:
