Moving on with our Three Stars series, here's a look at the top showings in Week Twelve.

First star/offensive player of the week: Jon Cornish, running back, Calgary Stampeders: Cornish was critical to the Stampeders' record-tying comeback from a 26-point deficit Saturday against the Argonauts, picking up 174 rushing yards and a touchdown on just 11 carries. That's a stunning average of 15.8 yards per carry for the Kansas product. He also added four catches for 35 yards and another touchdown. Cornish was crucial in this victory, and he'll be important for the Stampeders going forward, especially if quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell (who was injured in the win) is out for any length of time.

(Honourable mentions: Kevin Glenn, QB, B.C.; Adarius Bowman, SB, Edmonton; Ricky Ray, QB, Toronto.)

Second star/defensive player of the week: Juwan Simpson, linebacker, Calgary Stampeders: Simpson was also crucial in Calgary's victory Saturday, recording seven tackles and a sack. The Stampeders' defence was shredded by Ray in the first half, but they tightened up after the break and started to put him under more pressure, and Simpson was a big part of that. The Alabama alumnus was also important in containing the Argonauts' ground game; running backs Curtis Steele and Steve Slaton combined for just 52 yards on 11 carries, 4.7 yards per carry. That inability to run the ball helped seal Toronto's doom and pave the way for Calgary's comeback.

(Honourable mentions: Courtney Stephen, DB, Hamilton; Solomon Elimimian, LB, B.C.; Teague Sherman, DB, Winnipeg.)

Third star/special teams player of the week: Terrell Sinkfield, punt returner/kick returner, Hamilton Tiger-Cats: Sinkfield provided one of the most electrifying plays of the week in the Tiger-Cats' 28-3 demolition of the Saskatchewan Roughriders Sunday, taking a punt back 57 yards for a touchdown. On the day, he had 151 punt return yards on 12 attempts and 16 further yards on one kickoff return. The CFL rookie out of Northern Iowa (and a recent pickup by Hamilton after Toronto cut him) has great speed, being unofficially clocked at 4.19 seconds in the 40-yard dash in 2013, and with returns like the one he posted Sunday, he could be a big contributor for the Tiger-Cats going forward.

(Honourable mentions: Rob Maver, P, Calgary; Sean Whyte, P/K, Montreal; Justin Medlock, P/K, Hamilton.)

Bonus star/Canadian player of the week: Jon Cornish, running back, Calgary Stampeders: As discussed above, Cornish put up huge totals against the Argos. His impact was felt beyond just the stats, though, particularly when Mitchell went down. Backup Drew Tate stepped in and went six-for-six for 74 yards and two touchdowns, but was aided in doing so by the massive totals Cornish was picking up on the ground. This marks the third straight week Cornish has made our Three Stars; he was the first star/offensive player of the week in Week Tenand the Canadian player of the week in Week Eleven. The Stampeders survived Cornish's long absence thanks to a concussion, but they're thriving with him back.

(Honourable mentions: Andrew Harris, RB, B.C.; Andy Fantuz, WR, Hamilton; Rob Maver, P, Calgary.)
